This course is prepared for licensed health care professionals who handle patients with HIV and AIDS. It highlights not only the medical and epidemiologic aspects of the cases they will handle, but more so, the human dimension health care professionals can provide in raising awareness of general public and affected families, disseminate correct information and demystify misconceptions, as well as providing the needed guidance and care for individuals living with HIV and AIDS.
At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

- Explain precautionary measures to reduce the transmission of HIV in a healthcare setting
- Cite possible secondary infections and conditions related to HIV and AIDS
- Strategize how to prevent and manage HIV and AIDS cases in the clinic.
- Discuss the legal aspects pertaining to HIV and AIDS such as: federal laws, confidentiality testing, treatments, notification of partner, reporting, HIV testing of pregnant women and minors.
