This course's goal is to provide guidelines for dental professionals operating in the state of California, including dentists, orthodontists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other dental specialists. The purpose of the course is to educate students on the laws and guidelines for safely and lawfully practicing dentistry under the California Dental Practice Act.
At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:
- Recognize the state's legislation regarding the scope and norms of practice for dental practitioners.
- Determine the state's licensing requirements for all dental practitioners.
- Describe the behaviors that the California Dental Practice Act forbids and prohibits.
- Explain the consequences of breaking the California Dental Practice Act.
- Describe how the California Dental Practice Act governs the prescription practices of dental health practitioners.
- Identify the responsibility dental practitioners have to identify and report cases of abuse and neglect of disadvantaged groups.
