This course is intended for healthcare professionals and those in allied professions who may interact with and be asked to advocate for victims of human trafficking within the scope of their practice by learning about the types of human trafficking, identifying them, and reporting methods.
At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:
- Define human trafficking, the various stages, and its prevalence in the U.S.
- Assess the risk factors, common forms, and tactics used by perpetrators.
- Describe how human trafficking affects victims' psychological, social, and physical well-being.
- Distinguish the common myths of human trafficking.
- Identify the strategies and indicators used to spot victims.
- Determine the role of the healthcare professional in documenting findings and reporting suspected instances of human trafficking.
- Discuss the laws and regulations of human trafficking and ways to stop it.
